Lemuel P. Maglinte - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A bigger edition of Saint Theresa’s College Batch '89-organized Run with Venus dubbed as ‘Wellness with Venus’ is scheduled on July 20 at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.

Now on its second year, the charity event that features 3K, 6K and 12K categories aims to raise funds for its  three beneficiaries composed mostly of indigent and less fortunate Cebuanos.

These are the 'Gasa sa Gugma' in Pasil, a home for the dying and destitute, Bonita home for girls and Champs-children and adults in the multitude of play therapy center.

“The participation of runners will not only help them get healthy but also this will reflect the health and welfare of our beneficiaries,” said Dr. Marivic Tan, STC Batch '89 president, during a press conference yesterday at the Kublai Khan in Ayala Center Cebu. “Our main advocacy is wellness for everybody.”

The organizers are expecting 2,000 fitness enthusiasts to take part in the race.

“Last year we gathered around 1,000 runners, but we are confident that we will double it up this time because of the strong clamor from the runners,” added Tan.

Cash prizes and medals will be given away to the top three finishers in each division, while all 12K finishers will receive a specially-designed medal.

Registration fee is pegged at P450 for 12K, P400 for 6K, P300 for 3K. The organizers have also included a special category, a one-kilometer walk for an entry fee of P500. All fees are inclusive of a singlet, race bib and post-race refreshments.

Entry forms are available at the Active Zone in Ayala, Brick Multisports store in Cebu I.T. Park, and Velez College. (FREEMAN)
