Cebu's Nacua to face French fighter in amateur MMA card
CEBU, Philippines - The stake has been raised for two warriors seeing action in the first amateur Mixed Martial Arts tournament in Cebu as they fight not only for personal honor, but also for their country's pride in the highly-anticipated Cebu Extreme Fight League dubbed as ‘The Beginning’ on August 16 at the Cebu Coliseum.
This as Cebuano bantamweight fighter Lando ‘Alamid’ Nacua of Yaw-Yan ArDigma-Cebu battles Paul ‘The French’ Carrere of France from Unified Mixed Martial Arts in a three-round, no-holds-barred showdown.
Nacua is itching for redemption after losing in his first amateur fight two years ago. Fighting for the flag and country is surely an added pressure for him.
“This is a big fight for me because a lot is at stake here. It's not only my personal pride but also the name of my gym and my country,” said Nacua, who works as a call center agent. “It’s going to be all or nothing inside the ring come the fight night and with God’s help, I know I can win this one.”
The 15-bout fight card is not yet completed, but aside from the Nacua-Carrere duel, it also features a heavyweight clash between John ‘Little’ Dulap of Project X and Ronilee ‘Black Bull’ Castro of Tatus Muay Thai MMA.
The other matches pit David ‘Venum’ Po against Roel ‘Tigbas’ Arcipe of Warrior MMA, Marciano ‘Wolf’ Torion opposite Michael ‘Undisputed’ Rebayos from Rednios Gladiator, John Dave ‘Dancing Man’ Epile of SOMA Kickboxing Club versus Mark ‘Honey Badger’ Cuizon of Cebu MMA, and OCMMA's Bryan ‘Scarecrow’ Po against Dreamer ‘Nightmare’ Hong of Project X.
