Rematch, kind of
CEBU, Philippines - The last four teams remain and today determines who faces who for the finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and who goes home richer by $35 million.
Brazil, without their stars Thiago Silva and Neymar, Jr. is still a deep team and the Germans should put into consideration that they will be playing on hostile grounds. The Brazilian national football team, since 1975, has never lost a match. There could also be the officiating factor that usually tends to go easy on the hosts.
Germany and Brazil last met in the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup, with the Brazilians, starring Ronaldo, winning 2-0.
Argentina and the Netherlands vied for the finals in the 1978 WC, with the Argentines winning 3-1. Angel di Maria is iffy because of a thigh injury but Sergio Aguero is supposedly cleared to play. The Dutch will have a full complement of players and if they make it through, this will be their fourth WC Finals appearance.
Brazil, Germany and Argentina have won World Cups. The Netherlands still have to win one. The Germans have the most semis appearance with 12. I could be wrong but whoever wins on the Brazil-Germany match probably will win it all. (FREEMAN)
