Convergys 2 makes it 3-0 in CSCC E–League hoopla
CEBU, Philippines - The Convergys 2 Blue Devils easily manhandled the GGS Information Services Griffins, 74-38, to stretch their unbeaten streak to three in the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Roderick Mangubat finished with 13 points, three rebounds and two steals, while Kenneth Dysam added 11 points laced with eight rebounds for the Blue Devils, who ripped the game apart as early as in the first period, 18-7.
After closing the first half with an imposing 23-point advantage, 37-14, the Blue Devils launched their third wave of attack via a 24-12 bomb enroute to a merciless 36-point rout of the hapless GGS.
Lourenz Limpangog added 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks as Convergys 2 joined the ePerformax reds on top of Division 2 leaderboard on identical 3-0 slates.
Arniel Caputol was the lone double-digit scorer with 11 points for GGS, which stayed winless in three starts.
On the other hand, the Supportsave Dragons banked on a scintillating 29-point show by Niño Belande to crush the Telstra Boomerangs, 63-58.
Belande also had 10 rebounds, four assists and as many steals in an all-around hardcourt performance that powered Supportsave to its third win against only one defeat.
Ryan Paul Abordonado had 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals for Telstra, which crashed to its third loss in four games.
In other games, Raymaond Basañez and Remir Figuracion each scored 12 as the 1&1 Marauders prolonged the misery of the listless 24/7 Cagers, 58-37, while Pol Klinton Alfeche netted 11 markers on top of eight rebounds and two assists to vault the Wipro Tigers to a 54-47 victory over the Author Solutions, Inc. Hardbacks.
Allan Joel Andrino had 10 points for 1&1, which was never threatened after posting a 16-point lead at the break, 34-18, on the way to improve its win-loss record to 2-1. The Cagers are still winless in three games.
Wipro is currently at the third spot in Division 2 with a 3-1 win-loss record, while the ASI Hardbacks, led by Martin Ian de Guzmand and Jay de la Cruz with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks combined, fell to 2-2. (FREEMAN)
