Manangil dominates 1st Duraman Duathlon
CEBU, Philippines - Veteran runner Sherwin Manangil made his presence felt after winning the first Duraman Duathlon in Toledo City yesterday.
Manangil was the fastest in the men's Olympic distance with a time of one hour, 53 minutes and three seconds.
Manangil defeated Michael Largo and Nikko Otadoy for the title as he also gained a slot for a bigger competition in New Zealand next year as promised by Go Active Marketing Events Incorporated (GAME).
June Marq Ocana who was unopposed in the in the distaff side, finished the race in 2:52:45 clocking.
In the sprint race, the mountain bike action saw Gregorio Gadiano on top with a time of 1:53:56 followed by Allan Moralde with 1:58:23 and Mikhail Joseph Gallur wounding up third with 2:02:16.
Allan Chiongbian (1:57:59) ruled the combined road and tri bike race. He was trailed by Vincent Solijon (1:58:48), while Nino Abarquez ended up third in 2:00:59.
In the women’s side, Arlette Maratas finished the fastest in 2:30:50. Denise Cheryl Abcede placed second in 2:34:18, followed by Karen Kristine Reoma in 2:31:32.
Ralph Eduard So won the 13-15 bracket, while his younger brother Eduard Russell topped the 12-under class. Aaliyah Ricci Matargnon was unopposed in the 13-15 category, while Nicole Marie Del Rosarie bagged the 12-under title. (FREEMAN)
