Maiden Builders’ Run set June 29

CEBU, Philippines - In line with its 12th anniversary celebration, the Cebu Home and Builders’ Centre will spearhead the first ever Builders’ Run slated on June 29 starting and ending at the Parkmall Piazza.

As part of its community outreach service, the charity race is for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation.

“We are expecting to raise more than P240,000, enough to build additional decent houses for Gawad Kalinga Village in Kinugitan,Misamis Oriental,” said Chief Operating Officer of Cebu Home and Builders’ Centre  James Co, in a press conference yesterday at Chika-an in Parkmall.

Co added that they are expecting more than 1, 000 runners to join since they are also encouraging their employees to participate in the race.

“We also want to promote healthy lifestyle to our employees,” added Co, himself an avid runner.

The categories to be contested are the 5K, 8K and 16K. There will be separate categories for the industry professionals that include engineers, architects and contractors.

Close to P50,000 in cash prize plus gift certificates is at stake for the winners. All the top 25 finishers in the 16K male and female open will receive a specially-designed finishers’ medal.

Entry fee is pegged at P550 for 16K, P400 for 8K and P300 for 5K inclusive of a singlet and post-race refreshments.

Registration is now going on at the RUNNR in Ayala Active Zone, Parkmall, A Runner’s Circle in Raintree Mall, The Brick Multi-Sport Store in J Center Mall and all branches of Cebu Home and Builders’ Centre. (FREEMAN)
