UC-Nigerians go 2-0 in Don Bosco bootfest

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The all-Nigerian squad of the University of Cebu (UC) eked out a 2-1 win over the San Roque Rehab to take the solo lead with a clean 2-0 slate in the men's division of the 2014 Don Bosco Football League (DBFL) at the Don Bosco Technology Center field in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.

UC's regular varsity players, however, failed to duplicate the Nigerians' winning formula as they bowed to Don Bosco United FC, 1-0.

Two of the other games scheduled last Thursday night ended in a stalemate. The CVIRAA-bound DBTC booters opened their bid with a 1-1 draw with Leylam, while ERCO fought to a 2-2 standoff with the newly-formed Tiktak.

Leylam and ERCO currently share the second place with one win and one draw each, while DBUFC and the UC Webmasters stand with similar 1-1 win-loss records.

For its next playdate on January 21, the organizing DBFL are scheduling four games pitting the UC Webmasters vs. Leylam, Tiktak vs. Liloan FC, ERCO vs. San Roque Rehab, and Samba FC vs. Magone FC. (FREEMAN)
