Igaña, Seno are fastest alumni in Velez-CIM Run
CEBU, Philippines - Humility “Mitty†Igaña showed to her alma mater that she is not only a successful doctor now, but also a good runner after stamping her class in the Velez College-Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) Run yesterday at Raintree Mall grounds.
Igaña, a topnotch obstetrician/gynecologist at Cebu Maternity Hospital, topped the 10K women's alumni division with a time of one hour, five minutes and 17 seconds.
Sherry Cañete was a distant second in 1:0:20 as Weda Lim wound up third with a 1:10:44 clocking.
In the men's side, Brian Seno dominated the field with the fastest time of 56 minutes and three seconds. Theodore Zamora was a close second in 56:25 followed by Michael Esplanada in 1:02:33.
Current students of Velez College and CIM also had a good time on the streets with Adam Ampo and Princess Villapaz winning their respective classes.
Ampo topped the 10K male students category interestingly with the time of 50:50. Richard Ventura finished second in 's 53:57, while Michael Go placed third in 55:06.
Villapaz ruled in girls side in 1:02:09 as Jennica Rodriguez (1:12:30) and Jackie Latore (1:16:21) took the second and third spots, respectively.
In the 5K action, Myra Zamora (38:42) defeated fellow doctor Maria Soga Dioko (48:17) for the top honors as Sam Salotillo settled for third in one hour and one minute.
In the men's bracket, John Paul Sepe came out first in 26:11 followed by Lance Touchip (34:02) and Tristan Licayan (1:05:45).
The 5K students action had TJ Canda and Carmela Quijano lorded it over in the boys and girls division,
In the 10K open category, the Kenyans scored a clean sweep in the men's battle led by Isaac Simat (33:13). Kenyan Abraham Missos (33:17) and Douglas Mwiti (34:40) claimed the second and third place honors.
In the women's open, the Andrins stole the show, with Lovely Fe seizing the crown in 44:47. Mereeiz Ramirez came out second in 45:41 as Jade Abellana landed at third in 51:51.
Lovely Fe's sisters Jean and Cherry had a 1-2 finish in the 5K class with a similar time of 23:46 as Jesiree Geverola placed third in 37:49. (FREEMAN)
