CESAFI beach volley tourney unfurls today

CEBU, Philippines - Exciting showdown looms ahead as the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) Beach Volleyball tournament unfolds today at the Southwestern University (SWU) sand courts.

Five teams are seeing action in the men’s division and another three to participate in the women’s class.

Among those who will vie for top honors are the defending champion SWU, University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USPF), University of the Visayas (UV), University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CITU).

A three-way battle will take place in the women’s division between USPF, SWU and USJ-R.

The tournament follows a single round robin format. The four teams with the best record will play in the cross-over semifinals. The winners in the penultimate round will then play in the finals.

The three teams in the women’s division will play in a double round-robin action with the top two squads will advance in the championship round.

The top performers in the tournament will be Cebu’s representative for Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Games next year. –(FREEMAN)
