Close to 1,000 runners to join Royal Run

CEBU, Philippines - Close to 1,000 runners are expected to participate in the second edition of Hotel Elizabeth's ‘Royal Run’ that will kick off tomorrow at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

Race director Kenneth Casquejo of Kinetic Run said that the event will finally push through tomorrow after it was move from its original date due to super typhoon ‘Yolanda’ that hits Eastern and part of Central Visayas the other week. The race was supposed to take place last November 10.

“Meron talagang pumunta nung November 10, although we announce na we will move the run for everyone's safety. We are doing it tomorrow kasi ito na lang yung available date at masyado na ring malayu ang December,” said Edmund Valencia, Hotel Elizabeth general manager.

Registration is still open until today at the Hotel Elizabeth. So Far, 85 runners are registered in the 21K category, while another 180 in the 10K and 725 runners who have registered in the 5K division

Cash prizes, medals and plaque awaits the top placers in each category.

Aside from part of the Hotel’s anniversary, the run wil also serves as a major fund raising project for the the victims of super typhoon ‘Yolanda’.

The Jesus and Elizabeth Fernando Foundation have already sent out 12,000 food pack donations to Leyte but Hotel Elizabeth's CEO Elizabeth Fernando still wants to do more for the typhoon victims.

Aside from Leyte, Fernando will also be helping out the typhoon victims in the Northern part of Cebu plus the earthquake victims of Bohol and as well as lending some help in the rebuilding of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC)  (FREEMAN)
