Davies Paints edges Amchels, closes in on Don Bosco Cup crown

Davies Paints was on top by only four at halftime, 35-31, but overcame a spirited challenge by gritty Amchels in the last two quarters to escape with a scrappy three-point victory.
Davies Paints could wrap up the coveted crown with another win over Amchels in Game 2 scheduled tomorrow at the same venue.
Earlier, Ian Brigoli nailed 14 points as Bullvets ’94 mercilessly demolished the hapless Batch ’98, 62-32, to claim the third place honors.
After closing the first half with a 19-11 edge, Bullvets ’94 grew even hotter as it launched a blistering 24-10 rally in the third period then closed the match with a 20-11 bang resulting into a 30-point blowout. (FREEMAN)
