It’s NFL time!

For those who are into football, the NFL variety, you can now watch five live games a week and two more games on a delayed telecast. All you have to do is to call you local cable TV provider and request for the American Sports Network (ASN) channel at a very minimal price.

With the Major League Baseball World Series over, and the pennant going to the most unlikely champions, the Boston Red Sox, the NBA getting predictable like the sunset, and cycling currently at its off season, then the National Football League is the obvious number one. (BTW, the reason why the Red Sox are the unlikely champs is that last year, they had the worst record)

As far as I’m concerned, no other sports packs more excitement in every play than the NFL, from the first quarter down to the last play.

Bohol

I was in Tagbilaran last week for the holidays and except for the very minimal traffic, life seemed normal. I’ve seen the churches in Dauis and in Baclayon and it’s going to take a lot to fix it. As for the hard hit areas along the eastern seaboard and in the interior part, I wasn’t able to go there, as travel to and from these places is still circuitous.

I saw a group of triathetes doing their training ride to Panglao, and it made me believe that Bohol is still the perfect bicycling destination. In Baclayon, road along the oldest church is still cordoned off but a detour is in place.

I’m very glad to see that the people have adjusted very well to the curveball they received last October 15th. People are not complaining, at least not from the city folks. The concern right now are the “sinkholes” that purportedly is found all around city. As for me, I wish the government or the specific agency should be crystal about the situation. If there is a clear and present danger to the people around these holes, then they should do something about it. If not, then they should be explicit about it. They should not wait for people to make their own “findings” published on Facebook. On the other hand, I would like to ask these netizens, who I’m sure are full of good intentions, to please refrain from making their own opinions posted on their accounts. In other words, if the source of the news is not from the concerned government agency, then please don’t “share “ it.

While everybody is very concerned about the huge sinkhole near the St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Tagbilaran, the folks in the affected area are not the least bothered. No one is packing up and leaving, that’s for sure.

Last Friday, I checked out the area but it was fenced. There were a few rubberneckers (me included) when suddenly a guy, who looked like he just got put from bed, came out the second floor of the house right above the sinkhole and nonchalantly stared down at us like we were the curiosity. Serves us right!

Panic is the last thing the Bol-anons need and it is the obligation of the government to inform the people what really is happening.
