CEPCA tourney, election this Sunday

CEBU, Philippines - The September edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) monthly tournament will take place at 1 pm this Sunday at Handuraw Pizza along Gorordo Avenue, this city.

CEPCA tournament committee chairman Jun Olis said they are expecting more than 30 members to take part in the 5-round Swiss system tilt.

The top finisher will advance to the grand finals this December together with early qualifiers in lawyer Jong Melendez, NM Arnold Cadiz, Percival Fiel, Maggi Dionson, Manuel Abucay, Jun Kidlat, Peterson Sia, Rey Flores, and Freddie Casagan.

Olis said after the competition, CEPCA will hold its annual election of new officers for 2014. Cebu's longest existing chess association is presently headed by Rolando "Jojo" Muralla, Jr.--EBV (FREEMAN)
