Alta Vista holds two-man team jungolf event

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City hosts a two-man team event for junior golfers this Saturday.

The tournament was originally set as a member-guest event but due to some difficulties in finding partners, the organizing Jungolf Committee of AVGCC decided to shelve the plan and instead allow the players to find partners, who are either members or guests of the club.

The strokeplay format will be used and the teams with the best total scores would be declared winners.

Entry fee has been pegged at P3,000 per team.  The tournament fee already covers the green fee, golf cart, caddy, and insurance of the participants.

Teams will be classified into three groups based on the average handicap of the team members.

There will be a champion plus the first runner-up and second runner-up for each category.

Teams can be composed of players of mixed gender or of different age brackets, but specific tee mounds will be used depending on the age of the player.

Those from the special division (18 to 21) and class A (15 to 17) of the boys division will tee off from the blue tees.

To tee off from the white tees are those from Boys’ class B (13-14 years old) as well as girls’ special division and class A.

Those from boys’ class C (11-12 years old) and girls’ class B will tee off from the yellow tees.  Boys’ class D (10 years old) and girls’ class C will use the red tees while the green tees will be for boys’ class E (8 and under) and girls’ class C.

There will also be green tees for girls’ class D and pink for girls’ class E.

Tee off  time will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

This tournament serves as a preview to The Challenge Tournament that the club will host late October.  The Challenge is a national event. (PR from fullpointcebu.com)(FREEMAN)
