Over 2,000 runners to join Recoletos Run

CEBU, Philippines - Over 2,000 running enthusiasts are expected to once again hit the road as the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) will stage a running event dubbed as “Recoletos Run: Takbo Para sa Iskolar ni Jose” slated on September 8 at the Plaza Independencia, this city.

Spearheaded by Josenian Inc, the Alumni association of USJ-R, the run serves as a major fund-raising event for the benefit of underprivileged college students of the said University.

“We are aiming to help those students of USJ-R to pursue their goals of life and that is to finish their college education through our full scholarship from first year up to the final year of their chosen course,” said Josenian Inc. President Engineer Norberto Flores in a press conference yesterday at the Baseline Restaurant and Recreation Center.

The fund-raising race will feature 3-kilometer, 5K and 15K categories. This will also serves as one of the highlights for the week-long intramurals of  USJ-R that will take place the week after.

Cash prizes will be given away to the top three finishers in the 15K Open. The first placer will receive P3,000, while the second placer will pocket P2,000 and P1,000 for the third placer.

The fourth to 10th finishers will receive medals. The winners for the 5k and 3k distances will be awarded certificates.

Registration fee is pegged at P250 for 3K, P300 for 5K and P500 for P15k category.Registration sites are at RUNNR in Ayala Center Cebu and Josenians Office in the USJ-R main and Basak campuses. (FREEMAN)
