Sykes handily beats Talleco; Calltek, Wipro struggle to win in E-League
CEBU, Philippines - The Calltek Trojans and Wipro Tigers both turned to a stellar final-half show to repulse separate foes in the 9th CSCC E-League for Basketball 2013 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Christian Judilla had 18 points on top of six rebounds, five steals and three assists as Calltek bucked off a lethargic start to fluster the ePerformax Reds, 58-54, while Wipro rode on a 24-point explosion of Neptune Carungay to also turn the tables on the Teleperformance Lions, 55-52.
Calltek trailed by 13 points after the first period, but fired back with savvy in the second quarter to pull within just a hairline at the break, 28-29.They then unleashed a smooth-flowing gameplan in the remainder of the match to pull the rug from under the stunned ePerformax.
Mark Louise Gellez added 12 points, four rebounds and three assists for Calltek, which stayed at solo second place in bracket A of Northern Conference with a 3-1 win-loss record. Rafael Jose Cuico was the lone double-digit scorer with 10 points for ePerformax, which suffered its first loss after opening its campaign with a 61-point massacre of the Executive Boutique Lycans.
Wipro, on the other hand, mounted a sizzling offensive after being down by 13 points at the bend, 27-14, to baffle Teleperformance at the final buzzer. Brian Deodoro added 12 points and five rebounds as Wipro coasted to its second straight victory.
Frenche Petallo had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Teleperformance. Marco Antonio Real also had 11 points on top of three rebounds and three assists, but their efforts were to no avail as they remained winless in two starts.
