Lexmark, Aegis trounce foes in CSCC E-League

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Lexmark Stallions and Aegis Vipers smothered separate foes in the 9th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Niel Tiempo chalked up 15 points even as three others dished out twin figures as Lexmark slammed Tesltra powered by Teletech, 73-65, while Ryan Veloso exploded with 19 points and seven rebounds to power Aegis to a 78-52 blowout of Calltek Trojans.

Lexmark rode on a strong opening assault, then weathered a sizzling final-half show by Telstra-Teletech to escape with an eight-point win. The Stallions posted a commanding 19-point advantage at the break, 34-15, and that was all they needed to pin down Tesltra-Teletech.

Franco Angelo Cipriano and Ian Froi Divinagracia chipped in 11 points each for Lexmark, which also drew 10 markers from Siegfred Ofonda. Clifford Amarado charted a game-high 26 points, but his singular offensive outburst went futile for Telstra-Teletech.

Veloso, on the other hand, got huge support from Rudolfo Enterina III and Dean Junber Escalon with 23 points combined as Aegis thrashed Calltek by 26 points. They led by just a hairline after the first quarter, 15-14, but grew hotter as the match progressed on the way to record the most lopsided win of the season, so far.

Mark Louise Gellez finished with 21 points and Aerl Genebraldo had 17 for Calltek, which got battered by Aegis from the second quarter up to the final buzzer, 63-38.

In the other game of a featured triple-header, Archie Brian Vincen Batua banged in 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Ryan Edward Llanos and Jasper Loreto connived for 26 points as the Accenture Sharks eked out a 63-60 decision over SSI.

Lawrence Daven Agas had 23 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals for SSI, which couldn't pull past Accenture despite a solid offensive in the windup. (FREEMAN)
