CEBU, Philippines - Maritoni Ysabel Trebol stoked the offensive fire for the Carolinians with just 10 minutes gone by in the match. Ironically, SHS-Ateneo scored an own goal moments later and then Jana Gerobiese found the back of the net at the 20th to give USC a comfortable 3-0 cushion at halftime.
Chicay Romualdez sealed USC's rout with a goal at the 51st. Interestingly, USC also scored a 4-0 whitewash of SHS-AdC during the elimination round.
Over at the Cebu City Sports Center,Hiroshi FC spared no mercy in a 13-0 blowout of the hapless CAFC, 13-0, in group A of the men's division. After Roy Melgo broke the ice of the match at the 25th, Rodney Gandiongko sank back-to-back goals at the 30th and 37th before Gino Palomo chipped in his contribution at the 42nd to give Hiroshi a 4-0 advantage at the break.
Capitalizing on CAFC's horrendous play, Hiroshi piled up nine more goals, five of which coming from Karl Arcenas at the 66th, 69th, 70th, 73rd and 80th. Joshua Fegidero and John Flores produced two goals apiece to vault Hiroshi to its third win.
Like Hiroshi, Queen City United also dismantled Hijos de Pueblo with relative ease,17-0, in group B. Jade Paghubasan and Samson Olaniyi fired two goals each in the first half, while Dan Villarico added one.
Olaniyi drilled in one more goal in the second half at the 51st, before Junard Aguilar went on a rampage, unloading goals at the 58th, 74th, 77th, 85th and 89th. Ariel Cahilig baned into two goals for QCU, while Tom Booth, Joseph Rodriguez and Rommel Cuizon donated one foal each as they also stayed unbeaten in three starts.
Without Chiffy Caligdong, ERCO suffered its second loss in four games at the hands of San Roque Rehab, 2-0.
In the other games at ASF, Dynamo and USC-BED set up a title showdown in the 11-under category. Dynamo advanced after a 3-1 beating of Lahug ES, while USC-BED booked a final ticket after dumping Canduman 3-0.
In boys 13 action, the BRO National and Talisay Razkals both coasted to their third straight wins. BRO National escaped with a 1-0 win over Tabor Hills, while the Talisay Razkals shut down USC-BED, 3-0.
In the 15-under battle, SHS-AdC posted back-to-back victories with Phoenix FC as its latest victim via a 5-0 demolition in group B. (FREEMAN)
