Prime Asia eyes 10-0 sweep
CEBU, Philippines - The Prime Asia Lending-UV Green Lancers gun for a 10-game elimination round sweep when they go up against the Gaisano Capital South-UC Webmasters in the Enervon CESAFI Partner's Cup 2013 basketball tournament today at the Cebu Coliseum.
Prime Asia and Gaisano Capital will slug it out at 6:30 tonight, topbilling a triple-header that features the Cebu Landmasters-USC Warriors against Raphael's Cafe/USJ-R Jaguars in the 3 pm opener. Lion Tiger-USPF Panthers and San Marino Tuna/CIT-U Wildcats will mix it up in the second game at 4:45 pm.
Prime Asia of coach Felix "Donbel" Belano, Jr. stretched its unbeaten streak to nine games following a masterful 94-71 demolition of the Cebu Landmasters, 94-71, the other night in San Remigio, Cebu.
Prime Asia rode on the tandem of John Michael Abad and big man Wowie Escocio in blowing out the hapless Cebu Landmasters. Abad charted 24 points, while Escocio chipped in 20. Nigerian recruit Steve Cedrick Akomo was also productive on the offensive end finishing with 14 points.
Prime Asia led by only three points after three quarters, 57-54 but launched a massive 37-17 assault in the final quarter to come up with a 23-point rout.
Ian Ortega and Nico Magat each scored 16 points for the Cebu Landmasters, which dropped to 5-4 in a tie with Gaisano Capital.
