Ms Motosuit motocross annual awards tonight: Top riders take centerstage

CEBU, Philippines - The best and the brightest stars of Cebu motocross will finally be feted for their stirring exploits during the past year as the MS Motosuit Motocross Series holds its Annual Awards Night at 7 pm today at PAGCOR'S Teatro Casino in Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel.

The event will surely be a memorable one not only for the awardees but also for MS Motosuit big boss Lou Ornopia as he will take it as an opportunity to make his final bow as race organizer of the sport he nurtured for nearly two decades.

"This is a chance for me to formally announce that I will no longer be organizing a motocross series. It doesn't mean though that I am leaving the sport for good. My support to motocross will always be there, although in another capacity this time," said Ornopia, a one-time Sportsman of the Year awardee by the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC).

Aside from Ornopia, the revered godfather of Cebu motocross, some prominent personalities are expected to grace the affair including Cebuano congressmen Benhur Salimbangon (4th District) and Pablo John Garcia (3rd District).

The ageless Pepo Rubi leads the elite cast of davedevils who will be honored tonight being the overall champion in both the expert and pro open divisions.

The other category champions who will take centerstage with Rubi are Donkey Sanchez (open enduro), BJ Pepito (mini 65 and 85cc), Nanding Pepito (executive C), Martin Nunez (intermediate and novice open production), JC Obligado (local enduro), Denmark Supatan (beginners production), Jun Enriquez (executive B), Kent Limpag (underbone), and Roscel Gunbob (executive A).

They are all candidates for the covered "Rider of the Year" accolade that will be announced towards the end of the program.
