Millan, Bukiron lift teams to victory in CECABA

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - 3R Audio '98 and Jepoy '99 blasted separate foes in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Saturday at the CEC gym.

Rex Millan netted 26 points as Class '98 zapped Argentina Corned Beef '84/87/90, 65-59, while Mark Eugene Bukiron charted a season-high 41 points on top of 12 rebounds to power Class '99 to a 65-55 thrashing of First ACY Shipping Corp. 2006.

Millan, who had a spectacular 9-of-13 shooting from the field including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, was backed up by Robinson Yap with 12 points and five rebounds for Class '98, which imporoved its record to 8-5. Paul Michael Cabellon scattered 28 points, seven rebounds and seven steals, while Sammy Sia tossed in 16 markers and nine rebounds but their efforts proved futile as Class '83/87/90 absorbed its eight loss against only two wins.

In the main game, Class '99 rode on a dazzling offensive show by Bukiron to notch its sixth victory in 10 starts, while dropping Class 2006 to 2-10.

Troy Symington Tan added 11 points and seven rebounds for Class '99, which never looked back after posting a 31-21 advantage at halftime.

Junwynn Dy had 28 points, three assists and three steals in a losing cause for Class 2006. (FREEMAN)
