Victory Global edges Vicsal Metro; Nature’s Spring drowns 88th Floor

CEBU, Philippines - Victory Global Cebu outpointed Vicsal Development Corp. in overtime, 109-100, as Philippine Spring Water Resources, Inc. drowned 88th Floor Gifts, Inc., 91-66, in HoopStars 2013 Corporate League at J Centre Mall last Monday night.

Dioannie “Jan” Gumera provided the tempo for the Albert Surplus franchise, scoring 23 points that helped contain the third quarter surge of the Viscal team that carried the flag of Metro, the department store.

Rick de la Cerna and Dexter Caballero added 25 and 18 marks for Victory Global that brought their game to an overtime ending the regulation at 89-all in this series backed by Siknoy Noodle House and 89.9 Smooth FM.

With De la Cerna out of the game on fouls and even if the team reported with only seven players, Gumera exploded with seven points during the extension that negated the 44-point production of Marb Iñigo and the 23 points from Villahermosa for Vicsal-Metro.

In the separate encounter earlier, Roy Bacalso played acrobatic shots that delighted the audience as he orchestrated the play of Nature's Spring despite scoring only 10 points in their game against 88th Floor.

Bacalso aided Francis Paracuelles in scoring 14 points and Neil Garcia who added 12 that wasted the 18 points Philbert Borces contributed for 88th Floor and the 14 points JR Guardiano had also produced. (FREEMAN)
