CAC bets shine in Sinulog archery tilt
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Archery Club (CAC) hauled three golds and one silver to dominate the 1st Sinulog Archery Cup recently at the South Road Properties.
CAC’s Bernie Horsey won the novice boys recurve class, while his teammate Josephine Vivien Chua ruled in the girls side. Their other comrade Justine Abella won the bowman’s recurve over Marigondon’s Stuart Gesta.
The visiting Silliman University Dumaguete Archery Club (SUDAC) settled with two golds and a silver, thanks to the efforts of Crisha Mae and Marie Crizabelle Merto.
Crizabelle topped the junior girls recurve with 234 points followed by her teammate Schenitte Marie Tingas with 208. Labogon’s Princess Moya grabbed the bronze with 181 points.
Crisha Mae Merto lorded it over in the bowman girls recurve with 292 points. CAC’s Khlayn Abella got the silver with 263 points, while Gothong’s Roselle Amamag bagged the bronze with 240 points.
Labogon National High School ended its bid with two golds and two bronzes.
Labogon’s Willy Salado ruled the most participated cadet boys recurve with 260 points as Gothong’s Leonides Lopez wound up second with 247 and CAC's Luis Joaquin Buyco third with 241 points.
Myla Agus handed Labogon its second gold via the cadet girls recurve with 258 points. She bested eight other archers though she was up by only three points against Gothong’s Rey Ann Flores. Chrysty Ann Comahig of Labogon took the bronze with 240 points.

The event formally kicked off Cebu City Sports Commission's highly ambitious bid to establish another Guiness record for the world's largest archery tournament. (FREEMAN)
