Gao, Lim, Sebastian rule Alta Vista Fun Golf event
CEBU, Philippines - Wei Wei Gao, Richard Lim, and Ramon Sebastian led the winners of the Alta Vista Fun Golf Tournament, which was played over the weekend.
The 13-year-old Gao fired a gross score of 71 strokes to bag the lowest gross honors for the two-day, 18-hole tournament.
Lim fired a gross score of 73 strokes and had a net score of 11-under-par 61 to take the lowest net honors.
Sebastian bagged the lowest gross honors for the seniors’ division (55 to 69 years old) with his five-over-par 77 strokes beating Hospicio ‘Razy’ Razon in the countback.
The tournament ended Sunday night with an awards ceremony that featured singing sensation Anna Fegi, who mesmerized the tournament participants and guests with her talent.
The class A title went to Andrew Ahn who fired a net score of 65 strokes off a gross 76. First runner-up was Glenn Sebastian, Ramon’s nephew, with a net score of 66 and second runner-up was Marvin Mendoza with a net score of 68 beating Alex Yeo in the countback.
Jude Demiar topped class B with a net score of 72 strokes off a gross 76. First runner-up was B. Gen Romeo Gapuz with a net score of 64 strokes beating Jun Dayot in the countback. Dayot settled for the second runner-up plum.
All winners of the tournament received specially-crafted plaques exclusive to the two major tournaments of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.
The class C title went to Atty. Serecio Mat Jo with a net score of 62 strokes followed by Lawrence Chian at second also with a net score of 62. Jo prevailed in the countback. Third place went to Alex Ngo with a net score of 65 strokes.
The lowest net title for the seniors’ division went to Regino ‘Rey’ Sanchez with a net score of 62 strokes off a gross 83. Second place went to Rolando Alberto with a net score of 70 beating Jun Zosa and Razon in the countback. Zosa also beat Razon in the countback to take third place honors.
John Uy won the title for the super seniors (70 years old and above) class with a net score of 63 strokes off a gross 86. Runner-up honors went to Dr. Teodulo ‘Totoy’ San Juan with a net score of 67 strokes.
Edna Binoya of Dumaguete City topped the ladies division with a net score of 59 strokes after shooting a gross 89. Runner-up honors went to Choi Yi Hwa with a net score of 67.
Wei Yu Gao, younger brother of Wei Wei, topped the dependents’ category with a net score of 72. Runner-up honors went to Annika Yeo with a net score of 87.
Shee Jin Chia topped the guest division with a net score of 61 strokes off a gross 78. First runner-up was Justice Pete Corrales with a net 63 and second runner-up was Col. Gerry Catindoy with a net score of 64 edging Jovy Mendoza in the countback.
Highlighting the tournament was an eagle made by Prudencio ‘Prudgie’ Gesta, president of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the par-4 hole No. 4. Gesta sank his second shot from 150 yards. The feat was witnessed by Chief Supt Marcelo Garbo, Alvin Lim, and Song Lim. (FREEMAN)
