“Fighters of the Future” Marco Singwangcha, Valero face separate foes tonight

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo Singwangcha will stake his clean record against Jessie Tuyor of Dipolog City in a non-title bout scheduled for 10 rounds topbilling the "Fighters of the Future" boxing extravaganza tonight at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Demecillo-Singwangcha is riding on the crest of a 17-fight winning streak spiked with 13 knockouts. In his previous bout, he wowed his hometown fans in Iligan City when he stopped Marjuan Tabamo in round four to keep his Phl belt last September 25 at the MSU-IIT Gym.

It was Demecillo-Singwangcha's third successful defense of the Phl throne he seized via a ninth round TKO of Louie Bantigue on October 9, 2011 at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in Liloan.

In the supporting main event of the slambang show co-presented by Thai promoter Naris Singwangcha and RWS International Promotions of noted Cebuano boxingman Rex "Wakee" Salud, the resurgent Gerpaul 'Captain Hook" Valero of the Mandaue City-based Noy Pacing Flores Stable hopes to extend his sizzling streak when he trades fistic bombs with Ronnie Sunido of Zamboanga City.

Before his talent was spotted by the eagle-eyed Cebuano ring strategist Brix Flores, the Saranggani Province-native Valero holds a pitiful record of only one win in 17 pro fights with three draws.

But under the able guidance of Flores, the 21-year-old Valero racked up a string of 11 victories capped by a spectacular first round stoppage of ALA fighter Marjhun Macahilig last September 28 at the Mayor Esperanza Binghay Memorial Complex in Balamban south of Cebu.

The rest of action-packed card features Ardie Boyosi vs. Dondon Narvaez;Jayson Singwangcha vs. Jomar Ministerio; Llanera Singwangcha vs. Jesson Inso; Belmar Plaza vs. Richard Rosales;Tabanao Singwangcha vs. Jerome Baja; and Canoy Singwangcha vs. Gary Rojo.

Supported by Cebu 6th District Rep. Luigi Quisumbing and the city government of Mandaue under the leadership of Mayor Jonas Cortes and Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, the event is also backed up by Fighter Wine, Chine's Palace, AA's Barbecue, Rico's Lechon, Lora Mae Enterprises, and Queen's Pharmacy.
