Flores bags Colonnade chess crown

CEBU, Philippines - Reynaldo Flores tamed Eden Diano in the final round to win the title of the 2nd Colonnade Mall Chess Open Grand Prix over the weekend at the Colonnade Mall along Colon Street, this city.

Flores, who counted John Alwin Otandoy, Edel Vosotros, Ceferino Vizco Jr. and Carlos Cabuenos among his victims, completed the 7-round Swiss system competition with the highest output of 6.5 points.

Michael Pagaran posted 6.0 points to cop the second place honors, while the third to seventh spots were occupied by Michael Pagaran, Rommel Ganzon,  Arnold Cadiz, Edzel Montoya, Kyle Sevillano ad Allan Salientes.

Rounding up the top 12 finishers out of a field of 152 chessers were Anthony Makinano, Carlos Moreno III, and Diego Claro, Jimson Bitoon and Joyce Lagrosas came.

Names top players were Kyle Sevillano (kiddies), Joyce Lagrosas (seniors) and Diego Claro (juniors). (FREEMAN)
