Davao team paces Sta. Lucia Golf Tour
CEBU, Philippines - Team Davao Eagle of Rancho Palos Verdes set the pace in the first round of the Cebu leg of the Santa Lucia Golf Tour played at the par-72 Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, this city.
Davao Eagle scored a total of 141 points in the four-man team event where only the three best scores for the day in the Molave System would count for the team total.
Joel Yamyamin led the team with 48 points and the others whose scores counted were Victoriano Gonzales 47 and Tamio Sakurai 46. The fourth member of the team, Eduardo Wee, scored 33 points, which did not count.
Running second in Division 1 is Alta Vista’s team 1 and Team Bravo of Royale Tagaytay with 135 points each.
Alta Vista’s team had Dennis Canoy shooting 48 points and Loloya Sabuga making 46. The last to count was either of the 41s submitted by Masahisa Kawakami and Ed Acain.
Team Bravo was led by Martin Guiang with a two-over-par 52 points and also counting were Mario Pradil 43 and Oscar Disepeda 40.
Still within striking distance are team 2 of Alta Vista and Dream Team of Palos Verdes with 133 points apiece.
In Division 2, Alta Vista’s team 3 leads with a total of 134 points. The team was led by Hospicio Razon with 46 and also counting were Ahn Woo Chul (Andrew Ahn) with 45 and Edwin Espina with 43. The 41 of Marlo Cugtas did not count.
At second spot is Team Galaxy of Eagle Ridge with 129 points. Ireneo Arbues led the team with 48 and was backed by Antonio del Rosario with 43 and Dante Felizarta with 38. The 36 of Angelito Sortijas did not count.
D’ Barakos of Summit Point is at third with 127 points.
In division 3 battle, D’ Crooked Stick of Summit Point holds a flimsy one-point lead in this class with 120 points against Alta Vista team 4. (FREEMAN)
