CEBU, Philippines - The need for more awareness on breast cancer has pushed the organizers to stage another Pink Run from Pueblo Verde to Mactan Benito Ebuen Airbase on October 20.
Breast cancer, according to Ronaldo de Los Reyes of Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center, is one of the most common diseases that Pinays are suffering, thus, the need to drum up its early detection as well as throw support to those who have already been diagnosed with such ailment.
“It (breast cancer) has already surpassed lung cancer in terms of mortality,” said De los Reyes in a press conference yesterday.
The likes of Aboitiz Land, Persimmon Plus, Pueblo Verde, IMEZ, ICanserve Foundation, and the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center, Kinetic Concepts, the Philippine Air Force and Rotary Club of Cebu-Fuente among others have joined forces for this charity run.
“Together we can make a difference,” said ICanserve Foundation's national president Mary Anne Alcordo Solomon, a cancer survivor herself.
A less polluted route and a mini zoo, not to mention running on a “restricted” area, are something that the participants should look forward to.
“Sa part namin, prepared na kami. I invited everyone to join the event. This is the only time na bubuksan namin ang aming gates to outside runners. Isang panahon na makakatakbo kayo na may peace of mind at the same time makakatulong pa tayo,” said Major Samuel Villacrusis, the acting director for operation of PAF.
Registration fee is pegged at P300 for the 3K and 5K and P400 for the 10K category inclusive of a singlet, race bid, a raffle entry and post-race refreshments.
