Lee, Kenyans rule Heart Day Run

CEBU, Philippines - Joeyry Lee finally basked in the glow of success, while the vaunted Kenyans scored another clean sweep in the 2012 World Heart Day Fun Run yesterday at The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

Lee topped the women's 15K race with the time of one hour, nine minutes and 30.69 seconds. The returning Madelyn Carter placed second in 1:14:02.75, while Merlita Arias-Dunkin wound up third in 1:14:50.10.

In the men's division, Josphat Kiptanui posted the best time of 49:28.30 followed by his compatriots Abraham Missos (51:31.77) and Douglas Mwiti (52:10.53).

Another Cebu-based Kenyan runner Francis Kakui lorded it over in the men's 6K battle with the time of 20 minutes and 412 seconds. Prince Joeyry Lee finished second in 20:17.44, while Jury Ycong was third with a 20:54.82 clocking.

Aiza Suaybaguio emerged as the fastest in the women's 6K action with the time of 25:37.92 followed by Crizel Diongson (25:50.49) and Lenly Cardenas (27:19.54).

In the men's 15K race among doctors, Yong Larrazabal took the first place honors in 1:11:48.45. The next two sports were occupied by Doc Senorin (1:14:44.21) and Rosel Moli (1:16:50.39).

The top three in the distaff side were Emily Estrada (1:31:48.31), Rosan Trani (1:32:39.18) and Christine Carvajal (1:35:50.36).

In the 15K pharma division, Jojo Santiago claimed the top spot in 1:34:14.70. Sean Manasaet was second (1:40:00.50) followed by Christian Philip Cataga 1:41:40.63.

Janefee Legaspi bagged the women's crown with the time of 1:29:26.88 followed by Hazel Go in 1:44:30.09. (FREEMAN)
