CEBU, Philippines - It's all systems go for the beach volley event of the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season even though some schools have declined participation.
The games will start on October 14 at the Southwestern University (SWU), which boasts of the only beach volley court in the province.
“They (school representatives and coaches) have affixed their signatures to confirm their participation so the tournament is on,” said Grace Antigua, the school-based league's assistant tournament for beach volley.
The University of Visayas (UV) will defend its title in the men's division, but it won't field a team in the women's category in the same way with the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U). The Cebu Doctors' University will skip the tournament in all divisions.
Expected to give the Visayanians run for their money are the SWU, CIT-U, University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of San Carlos, University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
In the women’s bracket, SWU is primed and ready for its title retention bid. They will be challenged by USJ-R, USC and USPF. (FREEMAN)
