CEBU, Philippines - The University of the Visayas (UV) athletes sizzled in two sporting events under the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season.

UV claimed two of the three golds at stake in scrabble tournament held at its own turf the other day. The Visayanians swept the titles in secondary and elementary level.

UV defeated the Cebu Institute of Technology-University in the final round as the University of Cebu placed third in the elementary category.

In the secondary battle, UV outsmarted the University of San Jose-Recoletos, while the University of San Carlos took the third place.

USJ-R though avenged to its loss to UV by lording it over in the collegiate division as CIT-U came out third.

For the individual honors, UV got three, with Dave Candia posting the highest single turn and highest single game with 586 points in the elementary level and John Vilbar coming up with highest single game in the secondary division with 598 points.
