3 PBA teams to invade Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano hoop fans will be treated to another blockuster hardcourt showdown as three PBA teams will be coming over in the Queen City of the South to take part in the 2012 Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama Cup PBA Pre-Season Games on September 21-23 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Alaska Aces, Talk 'N Txt Tropang Texters, and San Mig Coffee Mixers (formerly the B-Meg Llamados) will gang up on the multi-titled M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños in the three-day joust that serves as their final tuneup for the 38th PBA season that will kick off on September 30 at the Araneta Coliseum.
It surely an event to look forward to as Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiveros will show up before his hometown fans under the Alaska uniform for the first time.
Hontiveros previously played for the Petron Blaze Boosters until a three-team, multi-player trade shipped him to the Uytengsu-owned franchise. The deal has reunited the former University of Cebu (UC) standout with Luigi Trillo, one of his coaches while suiting up for the Cebu Gems in the now defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA).
“I'm excited to play with Alaska and I'm very happy that they really take good care of me even if I'm just new with the team. This is a new challenge for me and I hope I can live up to their expectations,” said Hontiveros.
The other stars to watch out for aside from Hontiveros are James “Big Game” Yap, the one-time league MVP who will be at the forefront of San Mig's campaign, and Jimmy Alapag, the explosive pointman of the Tropang Texters.
The four contenders will play in a single round robin format. The team with the best record will automatically be declared as champion.
Tickets are priced at P30 for general admission, P100 for upperbox, P200 for lower box, P250 for the reserved seats and P300 for ringside.
