CEBU, Philippines - As in the previous running events here, yesterday's 2nd Y101 Armscor Run starting and ending at the Gaisano Countrymall yielded no surprising results, with the Kenyans led by Josphat Kiptanui and Cebu's hometown pride Mary Joy Tabal topping their respective divisions.
Kiptanui registered the fastest time of one hour, 12 minutes and 41 seconds in the 21K men's open followed by his compatriots Douglas Mwiti (1:13:12) and Abraham Missos (1:15:10.)
Tabal lorded it over in the women's division with the time of one hours, 31 minutes and 22 seconds. Ultra runner Virginia Parajinog finished a distant second with a 1:56:42 clocking, while Helen Dionson took the third place honors in two hours, four minutes and 53 seconds.
Another Kenyan national in Francis Kakui dominated the men's 10K action in 33 minutes and 24 seconds, just 21 seconds ahead of Mendel Lopez, who is now also making a name in triathlon. Ronny Andrin came out third in 38:32.
In the women's 10K, Christy Sevilleno-Tutor crossed the finish line first with the time of 41:49. Jhean Andrin wound up third in 43:59, while Kishame Delechos timed 44:10 to settle for third.
Jobert Carolino ruled the men's 5K in 17:38 followed by Roland Batiancila (19:02) and Raymart Motecalvo (20:15). The top three in the women's category were the Andrin sisters Lovely (26:58) and Cherry (26:59), and Reejely Sumaya (29:08). (FREEMAN)
