Phl's top riders to see action in round 8 of Keiz BJ moto-x

- The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - In line with its seventh year anniversary, Keiz BJ Motors will host for the first time a national motocross competition this Sunday at a specially-designed racetrack in Brgy. Pagsabungan, Mandaue City. The race also serves as round eight of the inaugural Keiz BJ Motocross Series and Phoenix Cyclomax Titan Motocross.

"This is a rare chance for the Cebuano motocross fans to see the country's top riders going up against each other. This is going to be a very exciting race especially with the improvements we've made on our race course. I guarantee all those who will come and watch the event that they will be thrilled to the max," said Keiz BJ Motors big boss Siegfred Ornopia in a press conference yesterday at Lola Saling's Grill and Seafood Haus.

Phl's No.1 rider Kenneth San Andres, who currently ranks No.3 in the Asian motocross circuit, banners the star-studded list of strong contenders in the premiere expert division.

San Andres is expected to face tough challenge from Cebu's hometown idol Jon-Jon Adlawan and the multi-titled Davaoeño daredevil Kimboy Pineda, one of the brightest riders that Mindanao has ever produced.

"It's something that the Cebuanos should look forward to as the best of the best in Philippine motocross will try to outwit each other," said Ornopia, himself a decorated motocross disciple.

Over P100,000 in cash prize is stake for the winners.

The categories to be contested are the expert, intermediate, novice, executive A, B, C and executive selection limited edition, mini 65, mini 85, peewee, beginners selection, beginners open production, local enduro, local Pagsabungan and the "habal-habal and wanggits" showdown.

Aside from the cash prize, the riders will also earn points they need to jack up their individual rankings in the "Rider of the Year" race.

Co-presented by Phoenix Petroleum, Inc. through its Visayas sales representative Geofrrey Viñalon, the one-day race is also supported by Norkis and Haojue Philippines through Edmund Pingkian, Motolite through Roy Cabaña, RMO Motor Parts, WRW Enterprises, Betonbal Ready Concrete, Jun Mahusay and family and the Pagsabungan barangay council under the leadership of Brgy. Capt. Andres Suson. (FREEMAN)
