Vanese Justine notches second victory in FYA
CEBU, Philippines - Vanese Justine bested Simple Likes Barbecue Haus, 77-70, for its second straight win in the F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA) basketball tournament at the barangay Tisa gym.
In the main game, Harold's Hotel bounced back from its previous loss and vented its ire on Evoo Resto Bar, 75-67.
John Lloyd Llegunas topscored with 21 points for Vanese Justine, while his cousin Chissar Llegunas and Duke Teves chipped in 14 markers apiece.
Simple Likes, one of the strong title contenders, paid dearly for having too many misses from the free throw line where they shot only two out of 24 attempts in the fourth period.
Lito Mirasol topped Simple Likes with 19 points, while Ryan Villaver and Noel Medalle had 16 and 14 points, respectively, in a losing effort.
On the other hand, speed demon Dondon Cadungog paced Harold's Hotel with 28 points, mostly on fastbreak points. He was heavily backed up by Jaime Atuel with 23 points.
Mclean Alkuino and Reboy Caballes led Evoo Resto Bar with 42 points combined.
