CEBU, Philippines - The Convergys Wolves and Sykes Pioneers bested separate foes to earn a share of conference lead in the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Ellison Rivera had 17 points and John Alexon Loon added 16 as Convergys ruthlessly clobbered the Kyocera Frontiers, 94-43, while Gerald Bien Galarido banged in 14 markers as Sykes overcame a monumental endgame collapse to escape with a 66-60 victory over the Accenture Sharks.
Convergys, thus, created a three-way tie on top of the Northern Conference leaderboard with the Aegis Vipers and defending champion Stream Ingenyouity on identical 9-1 win-loss records, while Sykes joined the Teletech Titants atop the Southern bracket with similar 8-1 slates.
In the other game, Raymond Dennis Tan fired 19 points to lead five players in double figures as the ePerformax Reds slammed the listless Executive Boutique Lycans, 98-63, to improve its record to 7-3. Executive Boutique crashed to its 10th straight defeat in as many starts.
