SHS-Ateneo rules St. Ignatius Goodwill Games

CEBU, Philippines - The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu reigned supreme in the two-day St. Ignatius de Loyola Goodwill Games over the weekend at the SHS-Ateneo in Brgy. Canduman, Mandaue City.

In football, the Ateneans swept the titles, beating Canduman via shootout in the 12-under category and then nipped Don Bosco Technology Center, 1-0, in the 17-under age group, thanks to Kiko Villamor’s winning goal.

Over at the 25-meter pool, SHS-Ateneo settled for two runner-up finishes in the overall standings.

The Cebu Lifeguard and Swimming Center topped the 12-under division with 580 points. The hosts wound up second with 439 points followed by Maria Montessori International School with 423 points.

In the secondary division, the University of San Carlos tankers reigned supreme with 400 points followed by SHS-Ateneo with 386 points and MMIS with 274 points.

The University of the Visayas (UV) dominated the tertiary level with 376 points. USC came out second with 95, while Palompon Institute of Technology placed third with 88 points.

The Talisay City-based CLSC had six swimmers emerging as the most bemedalled swimmer in their class. They were Grant Ethan Lim (boys 6-under), John Philip Kong and Marielle Estreba (7-8), Micah dela Cerna (girls 9-10), Michaella Kong (girls 11-12), and Camille Shane Pacabis (girls 13-14).

The rest of the MOA awardees were USC's Jess Arriola, Jr. (boys 18-under), April and Cynthjune Goden (girls 15-17), and Kyle Lorenzo Nemil (boys 13-14), UV’s Maria Therese Tamondoc (girls 18-above), Justice Wee of General Santos (boys 9-10), Paref-Springdale’s Christante Veloso (boys 11-12), MMIS’s Mercy Issa Priagula (girls 11-12) and Myles Chi (boys 15-17) and SHS-AdC’s Dhexia Bersabal and St.Benedict’s Savanah Chiongbian (6-under).
