All set for Compostela boxing card tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines - Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo Singwangcha is primed and ready to trade fistic bombs with the Phl ranked No. 8 115-pounder Jeffrey Cerna in the main event of the “No Retreat, No Surrender” fight card tomorrow night at the Compostela Sports Complex.

The Iligan City-native Singwangcha is unscathed in 17 fights with one draw and a dozen wins by knockout, while Cerna sports a 12-5 record packed with 5KOs.

In his previous bout, the 21-year-old Singwangcha retained his Phl crown with a spectacular third round stoppage of Marvin Mabait last March 22 at the historic Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City.

Cerna, on the other hand, is coming from back-to-back defeats, the most latest was by split decision at the hands of the uindefeated ALA Boxing Gym stalwart Arthur “El Matador” Villanueva last June 2 at the Resorts World Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.

The Manila-based Cerna once vied for the WBC Youth Silver super flyweight title but lost via eighth round knockout to Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana last March 30 at the Chokchai 4 Market in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the equally-exciting undercards, TI Yamagata Aguelo of Maasin City will take on Jerry Nardo of Bacolod City in a 12-round rumble for the Phl featherweight title, while Redondo Singwangcha of Ormoc will mix it up with Eman Lavanza of Mandaue for the PBF super featherweight belt.

“Buhay Boksingero” champions TI Yamagata Valero, Rajah Renoel Pael and TI Yamagata Ardie will also show their punching stuff against Gerald Ubatay of Manila, Louie Arlos of Bacolod and Arnel Caoktoy of Ormoc, respectively.
