17th SHAABAA season kicks off on Sunday

CEBU, Philippines - The 17th edition of the Sacred Heart-Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA), the longest run alumni-based cage league in Cebu, will kick off this Sunday at the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu in Brgy. Canduman, Mandaue City.

Among the teams that have already confirmed their participation are defending champion Dynamic Power, Gaisano Capital, Fiesta Cebuana Caters, Twin Towers Farms Gold, Goldberry Suites and Hotel, Insular Square, RDAK, Twin Tower Farms Blue, A-Team, Cebu Landmasters and JAPFA.

Five games are scheduled on opening day that will begin at 3 pm or two hours after the opening ceremony.

In the season-opening matches, Gaisano Capital will take on Fiesta Cebuana, while the Twin Tower Gold will go up against Goldberry Suites.

At 4:30 pm, RDAK will square off against Twin Tower Blue, while the A-Team will face the Cebu Landmasters.

The elimination round follows a single-round robin format. Games will be played on Thursdays and Sundays until the month of October. - THE FREEMAN
