CEBU, Philippines - Stream Ingenyouity handed Convergys its first defeat but the defending champion had to pass through the wringer before fending off the Wolves, 67-65, in the continuing action of the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday night at City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Edwin Bibera cashed in 13 points, three rebounds, three blocks and two assists as Stream earned a share of the Nothern Conference lead with the Aegis Vipers on identical 7-1 win-loss records.
Kristian Tapic finished with 18 points and Mark Ignatius Loyola added 12 markers, five rebounds, four steals and two blocks but their efforts went to waste as Convergys saw its six-game winning streak come to a sudden red stop.
In the other games, Martin Ian de Guzman scattered 19 points on top of four assists and two steals as the Xlibris Publishers streaked past the 1&1 Marauders, 66-63, while Jose Romer Padigos and Marco Antonio Real connived for 26 points, six assists and five rebounds in Teleperformance's 63-56 conquest of the SupportSave Jaguars.
Xlibris, thus, improved its win-loss record to 2-4, while Teleperformance notched its only second victory seven starts. 1&1 fell to 4-6 and Supportsave was impaired to 2-5.
