CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano running star Adonis Singson and the lesser known Sandra Soliano topped their respective divisions in the premiere 21K action of the Run for Pinoy Glory yesterday at the Fort San Pedro grounds.
Singson bagged the men's crown after registering the best time of one hour, 25 minutes and 23 seconds. Paul James Zafico timed 1:27:24 to settle for second place, while Leo Abello came out third with a 1:30:47 clocking.
Soliano, on the other hand, stunned Madelyn Carter to clinch the women's crown in 1:42:14. Surprisingly, she was two minutes ahead of Carter as Tessie Escarinas was a distant third with the time of 1:57:55.
In the 16K race, Merlita Arias-Dunkin lorded it over in the women's bracket with the time oif 1:17:03. The next two spots were occupied by Sheena Gacayan (1:24:43) and triathlete Hannah Galo (1:35:10), respectively.
Michael Largo ruled the men's side in 1:03:21 followed by Alvirg Busa (1:13:33) and Jovanie Bordado (1:15:52).
Robert Daang also made his presence felt by winning the men’s 12K battle in 45 minutes and nine seconds. Sebuente Codera wound up second in 48:22, while Ricky Abalayan landed at third in 50:14.
The top three finishers in the women's 12K were Virgita Soco (1:13.33), Coleen Digmaan (1:15.52) and Rose Caballero (1:24.43).
In the men's 5K run, Joel Delposo won by just a split of a second over Jobert Carolino. Delposo completed the race in 17 minutes and 23 seconds.
Angelle Lawas triumphed in the women's 5K action in 24:38 followed by Maria Fe Hernan (27.32) and Yumiko Takamuto (27:51).
The top finishers in the 3K category were Roselle Ardiente (11:46) and Mary Joy Loberanis (14:47). (FREEMAN)
