Barba wins gold in Singapore bikefest
CEBU, Philippines - OZ Racing-Kokonut’s JR Barba frustrated Singapore's hometown bets to win gold medal in the downhill event of the Singapore National Cycling Championships the other day at the well-known Tampines Bike Park.
Barba, who hails from Negros Oriental, posted the best time of one minute and 39 seconds out of the 750-meter race course.
Barba was ahead by just one second over Singapore’s Tan Hong Chun, who clocked in 1:40.
Erwin Tan, another Singapore-based rider, settled for bronze.
Barba is so thankful to OZ Racing big boss Zandro Fajardo that they went to Lion City ahead of time. That enabled him to practice at the venue and make the necessary adjustments prior to the race proper.
Fajardo, for his part, made it to the top 10 cast in the masters division. He registered the time of two minutes and 16 seconds.
