CEBU, Philippines - The Pastriano sisters Liana and Julia came up with a 1-2 finish in the sprint triathlon during the third and final leg of the Congressman Red Durano Triathlon Series yesterday at the Sands Beach Resort in Danao City.
Liana crossed the finish line first over the younger Julia although both of them had an identical clocking of 1:47:44 in the women’s 20-29 class. Michelle Go wound up third with the time of 1:48:22.
Marie Antonette Sy, for her part, dominated the 30-39 age group in 1:45:45.
In the men's division, Edgar Fuentes, Jr., the top finisher in the 35-39 class, came out as the fastest among all male entries with a 1:23:40 clocking.
The winners in other classes were Rex Gerona (40-44), Hector Restauro (30-34), Neil Villarosa (25-29) and Bernie Gomez (20-24).
In the supertrikids, the Chiongbians ruled with Savannah dominating the 7-under, Yuan in the 11-12, and Justin in the 13-15.
The other top performers were Xeemon Sage Cuyos and Yasmin Margarerette Priagula (7-8), Bernard Sy and Meg Torralba (9-10), Nina Villarba (girls 11-12) and Mercy Issa Priagala (13-15).
In the 16-18 mini sprint, John Dale and Kristine Dominique Sy lorded it over in their respective classes. Jade Blando topped the 30-34, while Warren Noval won the 40-44 category.
In the duathlon event, the age-group winners were Erwin Pawaan Siton (20-24), Macky Valero (25-29), Joseph Miller (30-34), Freddie Perez (35-39), Dixon Tiu (40-44), Brian Lim (45-49), Sixto Quiapo (50-55), and Angeli Montinola in the lone female division. — (FREEMAN)
