MMA showdown in Mandaue tonight

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano fight fans will be treated to another exciting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) showdown via the “Who Are You?: Unleash D’ Unstoppable” card tonight at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

In the main event of the slambang show presented by SOMA Kickboxing Club, ground fighting specialist James Joel ‘Spider’ Sereño will exchange powerful kicks and punches with Jafet ‘Smiling’ Flores of Komjukai Aikijutsu.

Sereño, who scored an impressive first round stoppage of Brazilian jiu-jitsu disciple Ali Malawi in his previous match last February at the same venue, guns for his fifth straight MMA victory.

Also to watch out for are four fighters from the Yaw-Yan ArDigma-Cebu Top Team under the wings of Master Benigno "Ekin" R. Caniga, Jr.

Renante “Limbas” Noblefranca, Geronimo “Daredevil” Etac, Rolando Nacua, Jr., and Slotty Avila will try to prove their worth as members of the newly-formed elite squad.

Noblefranca will go up against Jose Leo “D Bull” Rodrigo, Etac will lock up horns with Arnel Ylanan, Nacua will mix it up with Moises “Tarxan” Nudalo, while Avila will clash with John Edu “Excalibur” Torbiso.

The rest of the bouts pit Jepol Noquera vs. Axel Torbiso; David Po vs. Sherwin Pugales; Marcelino Abayle vs. Edmar Sumbi; and Cyrus Noquera vs Lanly Palagtiw.

Proceeds of the fund-raising event will be donated to the KAABAG Women Foundation of Mandaue City.

Tickets are priced at P100 for the general admission, P150 for the lower box and P500 for the VIP/ringside. (FREEMAN)
