6 teams in UABC hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - A total of six teams will see action in the United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) Mini Cup 2012 set to kick off this Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.

The contending squads with their respective team captains are Titan Elastomeric (Vicente Sesbreño), Knoxout (Oliver Tan), Healthy Home (Michael Cinco), Plexibond (Jodl-job Dabon), Wallguard (Rhyan Pepito, the incoming UABC president) and Konstrukt Permaplast (Antonio "Jay-R" Decatoria, Jr.)

Presented by Boysen Paints in cooperation with Eastman Industrial Supply, Inc. the tournament follows a single round robin format, with the top four advancing into the crossover semifinals.

The top two qualifiers will enjoy twice-to-beat incentives over the lower-ranked squads. The winners will then fight for the championship in a winner-take-all affair.

Josephril R. Partosa, one of the league coordinators, said the month-long tilt is a runup to the regular UABC season slated to start in August with no confirmed venue. (FREEMAN)
