Teletech, Aegis cruise past foes in CSCC E-League
CEBU, Philippines - The Teletech Titans and Aegis Vipers walked down different paths before gunning down their respective rivals in the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Teletech had little trouble in trouncing the Cebu Global Warriors, 64-53, while Aegis had to toil hard in the final half before fending off the ePerformax Reds, 72-66.
Lourenz Limpangog almost singlehandedly carry Teletech to victory with a game-high 25 points on top of four rebounds.
Not other player netted twin digits for Teletech, which never looked back after racing to a 23-13 start. The Titans padded their lead to 17 points at halftime, 39-22, and then neutralized Cebu Global's offense in the final half to preserve a double-digit triumph, their fifth in six starts.
Rowen Tagalog paced the 2-3 Cebu Global with 17 points followed by Jay Paradiang with 12 points, six rebounds, three assitts and two steals.
Ryan Veloso, on the other hand, had a rousing double-double show of 21 points and 11 rebounds he spiced up with three assists for Aegis, which bettered its win-loss record to 6-1.
Clifford Amarado added 17 points and three steals, while Dean Junber Escalon tossed in 15 markers, five rebounds and two steals for Aegis, which posted a six-point edge, 23-17, after the first 10 minutes of play.
ePerformax, however, retaliated with a sizzling 22-11 spurt in the second period to wrest the driver's seat at halftime, 39-34.
After the short break, Aegis made the necessary adjusments on the way to outsmart ePerformax in the third quarter, 20-13, and regain the lead for good, 54-52.
John Ryan Benlota paced ePerformax with 15 points and five rebounds. Alejandro Ruiz added 14 points followed by Rius Anthony Agua with 13 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists that went for naught as they saw their four-game winning streak come to a sudden red stop.
Meanwhile, the Qualfon Knights won by default over the Xlibris Publishers.
