Convergys records most lopsided victory in CSCC E-League history

- EBV - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - The Convergys Wolves charted what is by far the most lopsided victory in the eight-year history of the CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament, coming up with a 92-point massacre of the Executive Boutique Lycans, 123-31, last Saturday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

In a virtual clinic, seven players cashed in double figures as Convergys grabbed the solo lead in the Northern Conference with an immaculate 5-0 slate.

Ronald Mabanto exploded with 23 points on top of six steals and five assists, while Ibhar Je del Mar added 14 markers, five steals and four assists for Convergys, which ripped the game apart right after the first period, 26-6.

The ferocious Wolves then held off Executive Boutique to a measly four points while torching 41 in the second canto to further set up the stage for a record-establishing blowout.

Dennis Morales and Ellison Rivera connived for 26 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals, while Mark Ignatius Loyola and Joseph Alnair Española chipped in 24 points, 10 steals and 10 rebounds combined for Convergys, which closed the match with a 32-10 bang to formally hand Executive Boutique its fifth loss in as many starts.

In the other one-sided matches, the Sykes Pioneers shackled the Eli Global Underdogs, 97-42, while the Odusee Rooz pummeled the previously undefeated Accenture Sharks, 76-50.

Rey Louie Lepardo netted 22 points and seven rebounds, while Noel Alajas added 15 markers for Sykes, which immediately beat Eli Global black and blue with a blistering 33-3 run in the first 10 minutes of play.

Sykes then outgunned Eli Global in the final half, 50-28, on the way to nail its fifth win in seven games while dropping Eli Global to 1-6.

Kenneth Robert Abrantes, on the other hand, fired 24 points and Earl Abellanosa pitched in 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Odusee Rooz evened its win-loss record to 2-2.

Brian Downey also made a huge impact with a season-high 21 rebounds on top of 12 points, four assists and three blocks for Odusee, which kept Accenture at bay after posting a 33-20 advantage at halftime.

Jasper Loreto had 23 points, but got no ample support from the rest of his teammates as Accenture saw its four-game winning streak come to a screeching halt.
