Motocross rider steals show in Cambitas bikefest

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano rider Donkey Sanchez showed he's not only good in motocross but also in mountainbike by topping the downhill event of the 1st Cambitas Bike Challenge at the newly-opened Cambitas Bike Park in Brgy. Babag II, this city.

Sanchez came out the fastest in the open division with the time of one minute and 20.57 seconds, while Jun-Jun Vidal, an accomplished wall climber and extreme sport enthusiast, finished second with a 1:23.15 clocking.

Victor Bagano came in third in 1:24.13 followed by Dave Chiong (1:24.41) and Ronald Romualdez (1:24.84).

Bagano, however, managed to take home a champion's trophy via the intermediate category. He completed the race in one minute and 23.43 seconds, while Maximo Villarta and Dan Crisostomo occupied the next two spots in 1:29.18 and 1:29.59, respectively.

In the beginners class, Keith Simpao reigned supreme in 1:30.50, way ahead of second placer Michael Modina (1:37.95).

Van Chua dominated the hardtail class in 1:34.05 followed by Peru Echavez (1:40.93) and Lawrence Aliac (1:41.45).    - THE FREEMAN
