All-Cebu finals in PNG beach volley

CEBU, Philippines - The powerful University of the Visayas (UV) tandem of Jade Becaldo and Mike Abria repulsed the equally-tough players from Tawi-Tawi in three sets to set up an all-Cebu finals in the men's division of the 2nd POC-PSC Philippine National Games (PNG) beach volley event yesterday at the Quezon Park in Dumaguete City.

Becaldo and Abria, the reigning Nestea Beach Volley national champion, overcame a second set drawback to outlast Tawi-Tawi, 21-12, 19-21, 15-6 in the crossover semifinals.

Becaldo and Abria, thus, arranged a title showdown with fellow Cebu bets Jonrey Sasing and Edward Ybañez, who proceeded into the gold medal round after a 21-10, 21-13 thrashing of Foundation University's Arnel Amadeo and Buensuceso Sayson.

In the women's side, Team Cebu City’s Jusabelle Brillo and Erika Camille Verano came up with a 21-6, 21-8 demolition of FU to forge a championship duel with Adamson University’s Jovelyn Gonzaga and Angela Benting. - THE FREEMAN
