Cebu City dance athletes rake in 21 golds in PNG

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City cemented its status as a dancesport power in the country after it collected 21 of the 29 possible gold medals at stake spiced up with 15 silvers and 14 bronzes in the 2nd PSC-POC Philippine National Games at the newly-refurbished Macias Coliseum in Dumaguete City.

Meanwhile, TCC’s pencak silat bets opened their bid with a silver and a bronze.

In dancesport, even without some of TCC‘s usual medal producers, the new breed of athletes were able to perform more than what was expected of them.

Jimmy Noel and Elizabeth Zetz had the biggest contribution with six golds from latin senior A, B, C and D and in the standard B and D. They also took a silver from the standard senior C.

Gylle Nino Deluvio and Andreah Kiem Capangpangan handed out five golds in the standard juvenile E waltz, tango, samba, and in the latin and standard juvenile C.

Five other Deluvios showcased their wares with finesse to brighten up TCC’s day.

Klein Jason and Kathlene Joy Deluvio grabbed one gold and two silvers, Isiah Francis Diluvio and Julia Paz Branzuela had a silver, while Bert Kevin Deluvio and Jam Flores and the tandem of Kelly Jay Deluvio and Julie Ann Entoma chipped in one gold and one silver each.

Carl Papellero and Jasmine Labra won gold and four bronzes, Filemon and Jhistine Glyde Baguio ended their bid with two golds along with Lark Jabonero and Mary Ann Ferrer, Davin Unabia and Jocelyn Versteeg had a gold and silver, while John Paul Mocorro and Therese Andre Quilaton bagged one gold and a bronze.

The other medal contributors for TCC were Zijiane Troy and Zijane Tracy Villarta with two silvers, Emmanuel Jake Corro and Paige Ianah Silud with a silver, James Bryan, Christine Camacho, Inouie Roi Rendon and Venus Mae Balde with four bronzes and Marlon Alino and Luzviminda Poitiers ended one silver and a bronze.

Sean Philip Piner and Mary Mae Canillo, Anselmo Estillero and Pearl Marie Caneda, Terence and Therese Salvador bagged one bronze each.

Caneda and Wilbert Aunzo ended their bid in the latin amateur elite with a bronze to seal TCC’s bid in dancesport.

 In pencak silat, TCC’s playing coach Adzhar Abdurazad came up with a silver in the men’s tunggal or singles event, while Irendin Lepatan settled for bronze in the women’s tunggal.    - THE FREEMAN
